I was recently instructed in the traditional Chrismastide calendar. Dr. Chris Alford’s blog argues for the value of an Ancient time-keeping during this season of the year. Advent begins on December 2 and Christmas begins on December 25, but lasts twelve days. I want to celebrate Christ’s birth for those twelve days and not forget about him once the Boy Scouts take our tree down and I go back to eating canned soup and rice.
To help me remember to maintain an attitude of reverence for the Lord’s birth, I have decided to grow a mustache for the next twelve days. A Chrismastide mustache.
